Eastern Christian School welcomes alumna Courtney Dyksen as 6th grade language arts teacher.
Courtney holds a bachelor’s in elementary education and English from Gordon College and a master’s in education from TCNJ. She returns to staff this year, having formerly taught 5th and 6th grade language arts at EC for seven years prior to having children.
I was born and raised in NJ. I went to EC from second grade through 12th grade. I met my husband, Jeff, at EC and we have three children. One of my senior year superlatives was “most likely to return to EC as staff,” which indeed came true!
My family has been very involved in the church we attend, The Chapel in Lincoln Park. I have coordinated the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) ministry for the past nine years as well as started and run other ministries at my church. My family’s recent hobby is hiking around the national parks. Personally, I love to read and spend time exploring new places.
Learning should be engaging and authentic, tailored to fit the unique needs of each student, and serve to point the students closer to Jesus. Eastern Christian School strives to do this well. Teachers at EC want their students to know that we care about them and want the best for them. One important way we do this is by developing caring relationships with our students, while connecting faith and learning, so that students will understand God’s world and their place in it.
